The re:start programme reached around 10,000 people at its premiere at the Heidelberger Frühling Musikfestival 2022. Since then, the free concerts in Heidelberg's districts have been a permanent fixture in the festival program and will continue in Musikfestival 2025. The idea behind re:start has always been to create a low-threshold offer, enable social participation, create community and, last but not least, strengthen the city's identity.

Year after year, young, up-and-coming quartets meet established ensembles from the international quartet scene at the Heidelberger Frühling Streichquartettfest. The promotion of the young quartets includes close support from program development to presentation in the festival context. The young musicians are given maximum freedom to try things out and experiment away from the fast-paced and all too often economically driven music business. At the festival itself, the focus is on encounters - with renowned quartet greats, industry representatives and, last but not least, a fantastic string quartet audience.
