Final Concert
Haydn. Bartók. Beethoven

In the final concert, Haydn, Beethoven and Bartók, the three classical heroes of the string quartet, will come together with their definitive works. "They are in a completely new and special way", Joseph Haydn rightly announced his six quartets op. 33. The first of these likes to play a confusing game with the keys. The minuet is replaced by a very fast scherzo. Beethoven's Opus 130, with its six movements, follows on from the Divertimento of the 18th century, but immediately announces its uncompromising nature with extreme contrasts. The final movement, which was added as a replacement for his "Grosse Fuge", which was considered too complicated, is Beethoven's last completed composition. With his sixth quartet, Bartók also bid farewell, in this case to Europe and ultimately also to the string quartet genre. However, the four movements - for the most part - have something to counter the sadness.
