Mozart Pass
Gringolts Quartet. Lily Francis
All Mozart String Quintets I-III

For Mozart connoisseurs, there is no question that the most important chamber music works by the Viennese classical composer are not his 23 important contributions to the "supreme discipline" of the string quartet, but his six string quintets. At the same time, Mozart led the five-part instrumental genre to a solitary climax, which subsequent composers also recognized without envy. Franz Schubert, for example, saw in them "the benevolent imprints of a brighter, better life", while Johannes Brahms characterized them as models of formal perfection. The Gringolts Quartet, reinforced by violist Lily Francis, will perform the works in three consecutive concerts on one day in a historically informed manner, i.e. on gut strings, with the instruments tuned "modern" to 440 Hz.

Notenschlüssel: Concert introduction with Marcus Imbsweiler 30 minutes before each concert in the Auditorium of the Old University
(made possible by the Heidelberger Frühling Freundeskreis e.V.)
